Manchester United will look to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they travel to Rodney Parade to take on League Two side Newport County on Sunday.

Manchester United played in the last tie of the fourth round, taking down Football League One squad Wigan Athletic. Now, the Red Devils get set to take on someone from the fourth tier of English football. Newport had to start in the first round as an EFL Two side. They cruised out of the first round, but needed a replay to get through National League squad Barnet in the second.

They also had to play twice in the third round, beating Eastleigh, out of the fifth tier, almost two weeks ago.

ManU is hoping to find success in the FA Cup, having struggled to find consistency in the Premier League this season. They do sit seventh in the league table, but they are eight points back of Tottenham for fifth. Manchester United drew with the Spurs in their last match back on Jan. 14.

Newport is coming off a big win in EFL Two play against Wrexham last Saturday, and have won three straight matces across all competitions. They are in the lower half of the league standings, sitting 14th, but are 18 points out of relegation.

Manchester United hopes to make it beyond the fourth round at the FA Cup for the ninth time in the last 10 years. This is Newport’s best run in the FA Cup since 2019, and they are trying to advance to the fifth round for the first time in 75 years.

This will be just the fifth time Manchester United faces Newport. The Red Devils eliminated the Ironsides in the fourth round of the FA Cup five years ago.

The Newport County vs Man Utd live stream is everything we all love about the FA Cup – a minnow welcoming a Premier League giant to their ground on a cold January afternoon. There could be a shock result, and you can watch it for FREE from anywhere.

Man Utd, of course, have huge history in the FA Cup and made it to the final last season. However, they are under enormous pressure at the moment after some poor results and even poorer performances. The Red Devils have only won one of their last five Premier League matches and always look vulnerable at the back.

Erik ten Hag will be without Anthony Martial for this FA Cup clash. However, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire played in a friendly match this week and may be able to feature in some capacity to help sure things up defensively.

For Newport County, it’s a dream fixture as they welcome the Red Devils to a packed-out Rodney Parade. They are, though, not having a great time in League Two and sit 14th in the division. That said, they do have a bit of momentum after beating Doncaster and Wrexham in their last two league outings.

Erik ten Hag's men have already faced exits at the Carabao Cup and Champions League, and will look to evert another big upset while also struggling in the Premier League of late.

The Red Devils defeated Wigan Athletic 2-0 in the FA Cup third round before registering a 2-2 league draw against Tottenham on January 14.

On the other hand, the Exiles overcame Eastleigh in their third round encounter and come into the tie on the back of a 1-0 Wesh derby win over Wrexham in League Two.

Head coach Graham Coughlan will look to field his best XI against the English top flight side.

Josh Seberry is the only injury concern at the club after the defender suffered a broken fibula in October, while Kyle Jameson, Offrande Zanzala and Declan Drysdale are doubts.

On-loan from Liverpool, Adam Lewis is eligible and fit to feature, while Matt Baker also marked his return in the Wrexham win the last time out. Having joined from St Johnston, Luke Jephcott could also his club bow here.

Ten Hag will remain without the injured contingent of Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount, while Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat are on international duty with Cameroon and Morocco respectively at the AFCON.

in Onana's absence, Altay Bayindir will look for his United debut but Tom Heaton is also a possible replacement in goal. The likes of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez could return to action, while Casemiro and Amad Diallo also trained this week.

Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans are doubts due to illness. Meanwhile, Hannibal Mejbri (Sevilla), Donny van de Beek (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Dan Gore (Port Vale) have left the club on loan deals.

Manchester United hope to go three matches unbeaten on Sunday when they take on Newport County in FA Cup fourth-round action. Erik ten Hag's side are the favorites against the League Two side and will take part in their second successive FA Cup tie against lower-league opposition. A win on Sunday would see them through to the fifth round for the second year in a row and could enable a deep run that would provide a silver lining for an otherwise cloudy season.

Manchester United's season continues to be rocky, and they enter the matchup with just two wins in their last five, including a 2-0 win over League One side Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round. Newport County are not anticipated to offer United much trouble so Sunday's match is a must-win, but a positive result will do little to quiet critics of the team's performances this season.

Ten Hag will have many of his first-teamers available to him, including Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund. After a lengthy dry spell to start life in the Premier League, the Danishman's fortunes seem to be changing with two goals in his last three league games on top of a Champions League campaign that saw him score five times in six games. United will be without goalkeeper Andre Onana while he takes in part in the Africa Cup of Nations for Cameroon.

Manchester United‘s season is far from its best. The team has incorporated players and made profound changes to its squad, but the only aspect that does not seem to be renewed is the results, which remain disappointingly poor for a team accustomed to contending in all competitions.

Eliminated from the Carabao Cup and the Champions League (failing even to secure third place and advance to the Europa League), and distant from contention in the Premier League, their primary focus undoubtedly lies on the FA Cup. Their upcoming opponents will be Newport County of League Two, who are aiming to spring a surprise.

Rodney Parade has welcomed some of the most powerful heavyweights that English football has to offer in recent years, and that tradition is only living on as Newport County are set to host Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

It’s a mouth-watering home tie for County, who had to fight off National League trio Oldham Athletic, Eastleigh and Barnet to get to the fourth-round, but they’ll harbour no intentions of letting the finish line arrive this quickly.

Manchester United, however, saw past neighbours Wigan Athletic to book their place into the next round, and quite arguably represent the most tantalising guests to ever arrive at Rodney Parade.

The Welsh club came through a replay with Eastleigh to progress to this stage, while Erik ten Hag’s side saw off Wigan Athletic in their third-round contest.

The League Two team do have a strange habit of giving Premier League clubs a fright, drawing with Tottenham in 2018 and threatening something similar against Manchester City a year later.

Having beaten National League side Eastleigh in a replay to line up this clash, Newport will be hoping the compact surroundings of Rodney Parade will prove a hostile environment for their esteemed opponents.

Man United have had a challenging season so far, and will be keen to successfully negotiate this potential banana skin, with Erik ten Hag set to name a strong side having had a fortnight's break.

With that in mind, they look strong favourites for today's fourth-round trip to south Wales, albeit the danger of an almighty cup upset certainly cannot be discounted against the League Two side.

Both Matt Baker and Liverpool loanee Adam Lewis are available for the hosts, who have question marks over Kyle Jameson, Offrande Zanzala and Declan Drysdale. Josh Seberry is out.

Altay Bayindir will finally be handed a debut for United, with Andre Onana away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are back in training but it remains to be seen if they are fit to start.

The Exiles are seven games unbeaten and go into Sunday’s clash on the back of three straight wins, the last of which was over near rivals Wrexham. They will be spying a shock upset that would leave Erik ten Hag’s position on very shaky ground.
