South Korea, on the other hand, will be fueled with some extra motivation as they look to avenge their 2015 final defeat against a formidable opponent. Australian fans would be happy to hear the news of Gethin Jones with the defender touted to return to the squad after recovering from his groin injury while Mitchell Duke, who featured as a substitute last time out, has also shaken off his hamstring knock.

The pair of Thomas Deng and Lewis Miller will also be in the squad after recovering from illness as the side is away from any massive injury concerns.

Australia netted four goals in the Round of 16 and they'll once again bank on the likes of Craig Goodwin and Martin Boyle to produce the goods in the quarterfinals.

Jo Hyeon-Woo was the hero of the Round of 16 clash saving two Saudi Arabian spot-kicks and the bankable custodian will feature between the sticks for South Korea once again.

Tottenham veteran Son Heung-min will spearhead South Korea's forward battery as the talismanic forward looks to score goals with Jeong Woo-yeong and Lee Kang-in shouldering the rest of the goal-scoring responsibility for the Asian Tigers.

The Australia vs South Korea live stream features two teams who had very different experiences in the previous round. This quarter-final game could easily have been the final. Expect plenty of excitement.

Australia comfortably got past Indonesia with a 4-0 victory in the round of 16. That cannot be said of South Korea, who needed a 99th-minute equaliser by Cho Gue-sung against Saudi Arabia, before winning on penalties. The Socceroos have also had two days extra of rest.

Tigers of Asia goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo emerged as the hero, saving two penalties in the shootout. However, he was only in as a replacement for Kim Seung-gyu, who tore his ACL earlier in the tournament.

This is a heavyweight quarter-final clash. Indeed, these sides previously met in the final of this competition back in 2015. The Socceroos, playing on home soil and led by current Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, prevailed on that occasion. Can Son and co. get revenge and bring home their country’s first AFC Asian Cup title in 64 years?

Heung-min Son's side have been forced to take the difficult path to glory in Qatar after fumbling their group stage.

In the last-16, Korea equalised in the 99th minute to force extra-time and penalties against Saudi Arabia, who were knocked out in agonising circumstances.

The Socceroos are still unbeaten at the tournament and they cruised to a 4-0 win over Indonesia in the Round of 16 with South Korea needing a penalty shootout to get past Saudi Arabia. A clash against either Jordan or Tajikistan awaits in the semifinals with hosts Qatar and four-time winners Japan in the other side of the draw.

On the back of superb win over Indonesia, Graham Arnold could stick with an unchanged team against South Korea, with veteran Bruno Fornaroli leading the attack. South Korea head coach Jurgen Klinsmann could look to change his team around for this game with Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan tipped to start.

Australia and South Korea meet for the third time in the last four AFC Asian Cup editions with this Friday's clash at Al Janoub Stadium a quarterfinal matchup. The Socceroos thumped Indonesia 4-0 while the Taegeuk Warriors edged Saudi Arabia on penalties to the disgust of Roberto Mancini. The Aussies roared into scoring form after a disciplined group stage which saw Graham Arnold's men finish top of Group B. Australia are now unbeaten in eight games across all competitions, but they have not beaten the Koreans since 2015 -- their sole title triumph in this competition. Jurgen Klinsmann's side grabbed a late equalizer against the Saudis before winning their quarterfinal berth from the penalty spot. South Korea have only lost once at this stage and that was four years ago when they lost to winners Qatar. Against Australia, they have lost just one of five competitive outings and have three clean sheets from those games.

Gethin Jones has been passed fit while Lewis Miller and Thomas Deng should be back as well as a returning Mitchell Duke. Arnold brought in Jones and Bruno Fornaroli for Nathaniel Atkinson and Kusini Yengi but Martin Boyle, Craig Goodwin and Harry Souttar did the damage vs. Indonesia.

Klinsmann brought in Jung Seung-hyun for Cho Gue-sung last time out while Son Heung-min made his 121st appearance. The Tottenham man will level with Yoo Sang-chul in sixth for all-time caps while Jeong Woo-yeong is now on 20 and Kim Jin-su 70. Gue-sung equalized for the Koreans against the Saudis while Jo Hyeon-woo saved two penalties and Hwang Hee-chan scored the decisive one.

Both teams will repeat the final of the 2015 edition, in which the Australians defeated the South Koreans 2-1 in extra time to win their only AFC Asian Cup (before competing in the Oceania confederation).

That was the last time both teams reached the top four of the tournament, while today one will be eliminated. Australia reached this stage after a 4-0 victory over Indonesia in the round of 16, while South Korea battled against Saudi Arabia and advanced after winning on penalties (4-2) following a 1-1 draw in the ninety minutes.

But the Taegeuk Warriors got past Saudi Arabia in the round of 16 on penalties, following a dramatic late equalizer from Cho Gue-sung to send the match into extra time.

South Korea is aiming to win the Asian Cup for the first time since 1960, while Australia won the competition in 2015 on home soil, defeating the Taegeuk Warriors in the final.
